Woli Agba Laments Ekiti’s Crumbling Roads — ‘Lives Don’t Seem to Matter’
Popular gospel comedian, Ajewole Ayobami, better known as Woli Agba, has publicly called out the Ekiti State Government over the deplorable condition of roads in the state, echoing earlier concerns raised by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
In a video posted online, Woli Agba lamented that the poor state of the Aramoko-Ekiti road had persisted for years without meaningful intervention.
“Anytime I get a programme in Ekiti, I don’t even want to go because of the road. Once you pass Aramoko-Ekiti, almost every part of your vehicle will be affected. It seems the government does not care about our lives,” he fumed.
The comedian, visibly jolted by the rough ride while filming, argued that voters should elect leaders whose professional expertise aligns with the state’s biggest challenges.
“If in your state your road is not good, vote for a civil engineer. That’s the solution,” he declared.
His remarks follow recent statements by the The Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ekiti, Corps Commander Sanya Adeoye, who warned that the dilapidated condition of roads in Ekiti posed a grave safety risk, contributing to crashes and vehicle breakdowns.
However, some respondents to Woli Agba’s post noted that the Aramoko-Ekiti road is a federal road, and under current policy, the Ekiti State Government is barred from rehabilitating federal routes without approval.
According to one commentator, the Federal Government is owing Ekiti about ₦20 billion for the Ado–Ifaki road project already executed by the state.
“The problem is a policy issue. We need to empower state governments to fix federal roads,” the respondent added, pointing out that there is an alternative route via Ikogosi, albeit longer.
