Court Directs Police to Maintain Status Quo on Tinted Glass Permits
The Federal High Court sitting in Warri has restrained the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector General of Police from continuing the enforcement of the tinted glass permit, directing them to maintain the status quo.
The ruling followed proceedings in Suit No. FHC/WR/CS/103/2025: John Aikpokpo-Martins v. Inspector General of Police & Nigeria Police Force, which came up for hearing on Friday, October 3.
Delivering the interim order, the court instructed police authorities to respect judicial processes pending further hearings on the matter.
Confirming the development, Kunle Edun, SAN, who led the legal team, described the ruling as a significant step toward safeguarding the rule of law while substantive issues are addressed.
The police had resumed enforcement of the tinted glass permit on Thursday, October 2, a move that sparked public debate and resistance.
