The 2025 edition is particularly significant, cementing Lagos’ position as a central hub for the global music industry. Night 2 – Flavour: Highlife Royalty (December 22)

Night 3 – Asake’s Christmas Eve takeover (December 24)

Livespot360’s Detty December Festival (December 6 – 31)

Known for hosting stars like Cardi B, Burna Boy, and Wizkid in the past, this year’s edition includes US rap legend Busta Rhymes on December 19 at Ilubirin, Ikoyi. The festival also celebrates pan-African talent, including Tanzanian star Juma Jux on December 18, and features late-night party experiences like Turn Up Lagos on December 12, dedicated to Amapiano and Afrobeats club music.

The Motherland Festival 2025 (December 18 – 20)

The biggest talking point this December is the return of the Motherland Festival, a seven-day cultural and entertainment celebration that begins in Abuja and ends in Lagos from December 18th to 21st.

Billed as Nigeria’s “Global Homecoming Festival,” it will feature top Afrobeats artists, global performers, and creative entrepreneurs in an experience that goes far beyond music. The Lagos leg will include festival villages for fashion, tech, and art exhibitions, but the crown jewel remains its Landmark Music Festival, which promises back-to-back live performances from the continent’s biggest names.

The 2024 edition delivered star-power with acts like Portable, Zlatan, Teni, and Bella Shmurda. For 2025, organizers have already teased a diverse and exciting lineup featuring Blaqbonez, Tariq, Show Dem Camp, DJ Obi, DJ Shawn, BBNaija’s Handi and Wanni, Mavo, Brymo, The Cavemen, Cobhams Asuquo, Morravey, Johnny Drille, Llona, and more. Greater Lagos Countdown (December 31)

To end the year on the highest note possible, the Greater Lagos Countdown will once again light up Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) on December 31st, rolling into the early hours of January 1st, 2026.

This official state-backed concert has become the biggest New Year’s Eve celebration in West Africa. Fans can expect massive fireworks, state-wide watch parties, and performances from the crème of Afrobeats royalty; Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, and Davido have all graced the stage in past editions.
