Vice Admiral Gambo is a retired Nigerian Navy officer who served as Chief of Naval Staff from January 2021 to June 2023.

Born on April 22, 1966, in Kano State, he enlisted in the Navy in 1984, specializing in Underwater Warfare with a subspecialization in Intelligence.

Academic and Professional Credentials

Not only a military strategist, Gambo is academically accomplished.

He holds a PhD and a Master’s degree in Transport Management from Ladoke Akintola University.

He is also a fellow of various professional organizations in management, shipping, safety, and diplomacy.

Military Career Highlights

Throughout his career, Vice Admiral Gambo held several key positions, including Director of Procurement at the Defence Space Administration and Commander/Commandant of the Directorate of Naval Intelligence Annex.

During his tenure as Chief of Naval Staff, he achieved significant milestones, such as reducing piracy incidents in the Gulf of Guinea. His contributions earned him awards including the ECOMOG Peacekeeping Medal and the Admiralty Medal.
