Open Call: Conferences, Symposia and Workshops Programme 2025
The Novo Nordisk Foundation has announced the 2025 round of its Conferences, Symposia and Workshops Programme, a unique opportunity for researchers and practitioners to showcase groundbreaking work and foster new collaborations. Unlike recurring annual meetings of established societies, this programme is designed to highlight emerging fields, create new scientific communities, and bring global expertise to Denmark, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands.
What the Programme Offers
The initiative provides a platform for both early career researchers and established scientists to present cutting-edge research, exchange ideas, and build networks. Conferences must span a few consecutive days, maintain open registration, and be advertised widely to maximize inclusivity.
The programme supports events in the following areas:
- Biomedical and Health Sciences: Focus on translational medicine, clinical innovation, cardiometabolic disease prevention, infectious disease reduction, regenerative medicine, and health equity.
- Sustainability: Research tackling global environmental challenges such as agriculture, food systems, biotechnology, and climate solutions.
- Natural and Technical Sciences: Including chemistry, physics, quantum technologies, engineering, computer science, mathematics, and interdisciplinary innovations.
- Art and Art History: Covering all eras and media, including interdisciplinary work linking art with science and technology.
- Innovation, Education, and Outreach: Translating research into real-world solutions, promoting STEM engagement, and enhancing public scientific literacy.
Grant Details
- Total Funding Available: DKK 9.1 million annually.
- Grant Size: Up to DKK 500,000 per project.
- Eligible Costs: Facilities, equipment, travel and accommodation for speakers, travel support for early-career researchers, catering, poster prizes, limited administrative costs, and salaries for a conference secretary.
- Restrictions: No support for commercial activities, faculty salaries, tuition, overhead costs, or overlapping grants.
- Project Timeline: Events must be completed within 18 months of receiving the grant notification.
Who Can Apply?
- Applicants must be employed at a university, non-profit research institution, or non-profit professional association based in Denmark, the Faroe Islands, or Greenland.
- The applicant must serve as the lead organizer and possess relevant subject-matter expertise.
- Priority will be given to projects that include collaboration between academics and practitioners, engage early-career researchers, and emphasize diversity and accessibility.
Application Process
Applications must be submitted via the CID Online Application Portal and include:

Proposals will be assessed based on:
