Ayodele Alleges Trump Plot to Use Jonathan Against Tinubu
Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has sparked fresh debate after claiming that U.S. President Donald Trump is planning to back ex-Nigerian president Goodluck Jonathan against Bola Tinubu in future political contests.

Ayodele, known for his frequent prophecies on national affairs, said his message was a divine revelation, leaving it to Jonathan and the political class to decide whether to take it seriously or dismiss it.

Jonathan, who governed Nigeria from 2010 to 2015, has consistently denied having any interest in returning to the presidency. His name was speculated ahead of the APC primaries in 2022, but he publicly distanced himself from the race. Ayodele offered no details on how or when Trump’s alleged involvement would play out, only stressing that “time will tell.”
Neither Jonathan nor Trump has responded to the prophecy, and no evidence has been presented to back the claim.
Online reactions have been sharply divided. Some Nigerians revisited Jonathan’s record in office, pointing to lower inflation and a stronger naira during his tenure, while others dismissed Ayodele’s prophecy as political sensationalism cloaked in religion.
For now, the cleric’s claim remains unverified, with many Nigerians insisting that the country’s political future will be shaped by actions on the ground rather than predictions.
