Lagos Police Interrogate Pastor Paul Adefarasin Over Viral Video Incident

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that prominent cleric, Pastor Paul Adefarasin, voluntarily presented himself for questioning following a viral video that appeared to show him wielding a gun-like object while driving an unregistered vehicle.

Confirming the development on Monday, the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that the Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church was currently being interrogated by detectives at the state headquarters.

“The pastor came in today, June 17, for questioning regarding the incident captured in the viral footage. The investigation is ongoing, and the outcome will be made public upon conclusion,” Hundeyin said.

In the now-viral clip, Adefarasin was seen in a vehicle—reportedly without a visible number plate—while seemingly brandishing an object resembling a firearm at an unidentified man who was filming the scene. The footage, widely circulated across social media platforms, sparked outrage and concerns about public safety, accountability, and the legality of carrying such an object.

In response to the controversy, Pastor Adefarasin issued a public statement denying ownership or possession of any firearm. He maintained that the object seen in the video was not a real weapon and that the situation had been grossly misrepresented.

Despite the cleric’s denial, public interest in the case remains high, especially given the pastor’s influential status and the sensitivity surrounding firearms in civilian hands.
